The wall clock is crafted from a cross-section of a centuries-old oak tree. Natural fragments of oak bark mark the hours, giving the piece a sculptural, tactile depth. The crescent at the top is an organic part of the trunk — once the beginning of a branch — now transformed into a symbolic accent. The surface is finished with wax and gilding, enhancing the texture and solemn character of the ancient wood. The name As-Salam refers to one of the 99 Beautiful Names of Allah, meaning The Source of Peace. The artwork carries this meaning quietly and naturally: the rhythm of the rings, the calm geometry of the bark-markers, and the gentle crescent form evoke tranquillity and harmony. Each passing minute becomes a reminder of peace and presence.
The wood comes from three-hundred-year-old oaks that grew in the historic lands where Napoleon passed during his 1812 campaign and wrote a letter to Josephine.
