Description: Line of Light is crafted from a fallen spruce trunk, its surface naturally inscribed with intricate “cave-painting” patterns left by bark beetles. Eight candles form a clean, continuous horizontal line, while the offset shamash completes the ritual geometry of a Hanukkiah.
A light layer of wax and gold brings out the depth of the wood’s texture, allowing the flame to read as a glowing path running across the piece. The Siberian-larch base adds stability without breaking the sense of elevation.
The artwork is nearly finished, with only final detailing remaining.
The wood comes from three-hundred-year-old oaks that grew in the historic lands where Napoleon passed during his 1812 campaign and wrote a letter to Josephine.
