Ancient Torah Pages (Hanukkiah)
Dimensions: 32 × 7 × 16 in
Weight: 20 lbs

This artwork is crafted from a part of the trunk of a 300-year-old oak that witnessed historic events in Russia in 1812, including the passage of Napoleon Bonaparte’s troops through this region, as documented by maps, records, and surviving artifacts. In the autumn of 1941, this same area became a key defensive line during the battle for Moscow.

The sculptural form resembles ancient, time-worn pages of a Torah scroll. Eight candles rise above the wooden “pages,” while the central candle stands elevated as the shamash. The piece radiates a spiritual and historical energy accumulated over three centuries. It has been featured in several exhibitions and carries a powerful symbolic presence.

The wood comes from three-hundred-year-old oaks that grew in the historic lands where Napoleon passed during his 1812 campaign and wrote a letter to Josephine.
